” For almost a year, I’ve had the good fortune to work with Kaung to improve my health. The results? My day-to-day functioning and overall strength have improved tremendously, and various joints and muscles are no longer painful. I had not expected such progress in my overall health and conditioning.
I’d not worked one-on-one with a personal trainer before, and I expected to work with Kaung for a month or two, understand the basics and follow his exercises, achieve superior fitness and continue on my own. In reality, working out 3 times a week, it took at least 6 months for me to reach a very good state of strength and fitness. I am working to improve even more.
After evaluating my strength, coordination and overall fitness, Kaung had me start with easy, basic exercises. Bit by bit and move by move, I progressed. When training, I found Kaung paid close attention to every exercise, watching for accurate and safe movements, comparing the level of difficulty to what was been done before, and monitoring any problems or pain. Adjustments are made, if needed, such as fewer or different exercises, more or less weight or repetitions, or resetting a goal.
I’ve worked with other trainers in a group setting, and they were good. Why do I think training with Kaung is especially valuable? There are several reasons. First, his attention to every exercise mentioned above is extraordinary, and facilitates greater progress without injury. Second, his knowledge about the body systems, exercises and various physical limitations is amazing; he is willingly answers any question about muscles and movement, exercise et cetera. This is a testament to Kaung and I think his program in Exercise Science at UMass.Lowell. Understanding what is going on and why motivates my practice. Third, he is alert to the possibility of pain or discomfort arising and if they do, assess what is going on, changing the exercise regime, if needed.
I hope many other trainers, teachers, and coaches have a similar kind of attention, knowledge and experience, and careful guidance, but I don’t know. What I’ve written is on the long side, but it’s truly my experience. I am happy to highly recommend Kaung to anyone who is considering starting with a personal trainer to improve their life and health. “
